When Dads Show Up: ABC7 Chicago Covers Daddy Victory Club’s Daddy & Me Walk
On Saturday, September 12, Daddy Victory Club brought fathers and children together for a morning of movement, literacy and community at the Chicago Public Library’s Obama Presidential Center Branch.
The stroller-friendly Daddy & Me Walk gave fathers an opportunity to spend intentional time with their children, meet other dads and build relationships with families from across Chicago. Following the walk, fathers and children visited the library, signed up for Chicago Public Library cards and learned more about the programs and resources available to their families.
ABC7 Chicago joined us to capture the morning and highlight the growing community of fathers choosing to show up—with intention—for their children and one another.
“This is bigger than a walk. It’s about fathers being present and creating experiences their children will remember,” said Miles Baggett of Daddy Victory Club. “We’re bringing dads and kids together in a place that represents learning and opportunity.”
The library was an especially meaningful setting for the event. Libraries provide families with access to books, technology, educational programming and welcoming public spaces where children can learn and explore. By incorporating library-card registration into the walk, Daddy Victory Club connected a morning of father-child bonding with resources families can continue using throughout the year.

Daddy Victory Club creates spaces where Black fathers are recognized not through stereotypes or deficits, but through their presence, leadership and commitment to their families.
