DVC Dad Reading Club: Forty Acres

One book. Good conversation with fellow dads.

Daddy Victory Club’s virtual Dad Reading Club is a space for fathers to connect over books, share perspectives, and have conversations beyond the day-to-day demands of fatherhood. Whether you prefer a print book, ebook, or audiobook, you’re welcome. You can join the discussion even if you haven’t finished reading.

Our first read: Forty Acres by Dwayne Alexander Smith

Martin Grey is a rising Black attorney invited into the circle of several wealthy and influential Black men. A weekend trip reveals a disturbing secret, forcing him to confront questions about power, justice, slavery’s legacy, and his own principles. This suspenseful novel gives us plenty to discuss.

Sign up October 1–7. We’ll begin reading on October 8. Our first virtual discussion is Thursday, October 22 at 7 p.m. CT, with a second discussion on Thursday, November 5 at 7 p.m. CT. Sign up below to receive the Zoom details.

Between discussions, join us for The Victory Hour: an invitation to set aside an hour each Thursday at 7 p.m. CT to slow down, read with intention, and invest in yourself. Read wherever you are; there’s no separate call to join.

Content note: This novel includes depictions of slavery and violence.

The Dad Reading Club is led by DVC dads. Questions? Contact us at contact@daddyvictoryclub.org.
